AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini are now good enough to save a small business real hours every week. You do not need a developer or a big budget: you need clear instructions and ten minutes. Here are seven tasks to try this week.

1. Answer the questions customers ask every day

Write down the ten questions you answer most on WhatsApp (prices, opening hours, delivery, location). Ask the AI to turn them into short, friendly answers in your tone. Save them as WhatsApp Business quick replies.

2. Write your Google Business profile description

Ask: "Write a 700-character Google Business description for a [type of business] in [city]. Mention [your services], [your area] and how to contact us." Then edit it so every word is true.

3. Turn one photo into a week of posts

Describe a product or a recent job and ask for five captions: one that teaches, one that shows proof, one behind the scenes, one offer and one question for your followers.

4. Follow up customers who went quiet

Ask for three short, polite follow-up messages for customers who have not bought in 30 days. Personalise each one with the customer's name and what they bought last time.

5. Price your services with a clear menu

Paste your services and prices and ask the AI to organise them into a simple menu with three options. Clear choices make people decide faster.

6. Prepare for a difficult conversation

A late payment, a complaint, a supplier problem: ask the AI to draft a calm, firm message, then adapt it. You will answer faster and with less stress.

7. Learn something new in 15 minutes

Ask the AI to explain a topic you keep postponing (Google reviews, Mobile Money business accounts, a website) in simple steps for your situation.

What not to do

  • Do not paste customers' private information into an AI tool.
  • Do not publish AI text without reading it: check every price, date and claim.
  • Do not let AI replace real photos and real reviews; customers trust proof.

AI saves time on writing and organising. What brings customers is still being easy to find, easy to trust and easy to reach.

Frequently asked questions

Is ChatGPT or Gemini free to use for a small business?

Both have free versions that are enough for the tasks in this article. Paid plans add more usage and features; start free and upgrade only if you hit the limits.

Can I trust what the AI writes?

Treat it as a fast first draft. Always check prices, dates, names and any fact before you publish or send it to a customer.
